Museum & Attraction Library Passes

Library passes are available for the following museums and attractions. Please review pass details, hours, and restrictions before visiting.

 


 

Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum

How to use the pass: Pick up a library pass before visiting. Payment is made at the museum.

With Pass: Up to 6 people: $7 per adult, $2 per youth ages 6–17.

Program availability: Library Discount Pass Program runs April through mid-October.

Hours:

  • Mansion: Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00 am–3:00 pm; Sunday, 11:00 am–3:00 pm
  • Gardens & Grounds: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 am–4:00 pm; Sunday, 10:00 am–3:00 pm

Note: Blithewold may occasionally close early for special events.

Closed: Mondays. Pass not valid for programs, Family Fun Fridays, Fairy Festival, Sparkle, or Christmas at Blithewold.

Loan period: Pass circulates for three days.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts

How to use the pass: Pick up a library pass or call the library to receive a promo code before purchasing tickets online.

With Pass:

  • 2 adults: $10 each (general admission and special exhibitions)
  • Up to 4 children ages 7–17: $10 each (special exhibitions only)
  • No discount for general admission for ages 7–17
  • Children 6 and under: free

Ticket instructions: Visit the MFA website, select your date and General Admission tickets, enter the promo code, choose “Library Pass,” and complete checkout.

Hours:

  • Sunday & Monday: 10:00 am–5:00 pm
  • Tuesday: Closed
  • Wednesday: 10:00 am–5:00 pm
  • Thursday & Friday: 10:00 am–10:00 pm
  • Saturday: 10:00 am–5:00 pm

Closed: New Year’s Day, Patriots’ Day, July 4, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Historic New England

How to use the pass: Pick up a pass for free admission for 2 adults and all children under 18. The pass will be collected upon arrival.

With Pass: Free admission. Special events and guided tours may not be included.

Seasonal properties: Open June through mid-October.

Additional information: Pre-booking tours is encouraged. A separate pass is required for each property visited.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

How to use the pass: Pick up a printed, dated pass from the library. Instructions and a promo code are provided for advance online ticket purchase.

With Pass: Up to 4 adults at $5 each. Children under 18 are free.

Timed entry only: Tickets are for specific entry times. Please arrive no more than five minutes early.

Hours:

  • Wednesday–Monday: 11:00 am–3:30 pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 am–3:30 pm
  • First Thursdays: 11:00 am–7:30 pm

Closed: Tuesdays; New Year’s Day; July 4; Thanksgiving; Christmas Eve (closes at 3:00 pm); Christmas; Patriots’ Day.

Open on: MLK Day, Presidents’ Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day.

Important note: On free admission days, tickets are issued until capacity is reached. Call 617-566-1401 before visiting.

Newport Art Museum

Hours: Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00 am–5:00 pm; Sunday, 12:00 pm–5:00 pm

Closed: Mondays and major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Loan period: Pass circulates for three days.

Norman Bird Sanctuary

Location: 583 Third Beach Road, Middletown, RI 02842

With Pass: Free admission for one group with unlimited trail access during the loan period.

Hours: Daily, 9:00 am–5:00 pm

Closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Harvest Fair weekend.

Additional benefits:

Loan period: Pass circulates for three days.

RISD Museum

With Pass: Free admission for 2 adults; children under 18 are free.

Hours:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday: 10:00 am–5:00 pm
  • Thursday & Friday: 12:00 pm–7:00 pm

Closed: Mondays and major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Sundays are always free.

Save The Bay – Hamilton Family Aquarium

With Pass: Half-price admission for up to 2 adults and 4 children.

General admission:

  • Adults: $15
  • Seniors (65+): $13
  • Children under 2: Free
  • Active or retired military: Free with ID

Hours: Daily, 10:00 am–4:00 pm

Closed: Easter Sunday; Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday); Christmas Day; New Year’s Day
