Zero Energy Ready Homes, Passive House and newly released Rhode Island stretch codes

Residential Zero Energy Homes (ZEH) & Stretch Codes - We will explore basic design considerations required to achieve low-load homes. The presentation will also identify construction techniques and best practices that are critical to achieve high-performance buildings and provide an understanding of the certification process and the role of consultants, standards, and verification. Finally, the provisions of the newly introduced voluntary Rhode Island Residential Stretch Code will be summarized.

Gould Island Restoration Advisory Board

First meeting of the Gould Island Restoration Advisory Board. Discussion will center on the best way to keep the public informed regarding ongoing environmental remediation work on the State-owned portion of Gould Island and to seek input regarding the project from members of the RAB. This group is comprised of the US Army Corp of Engineer project manager, Credere (contractor) project manager, RI Department of Environmental Management, and 28 local residence and stakeholder groups who were selected as members of the RAB.

Jamestown Historical Society Annual Meeting

Business meeting and election of officers begins at 7 p.m. followed at 7:30 by a presentation, “The History of the Newport Bridge: A Monument to Perseverance,” by James M. Ricci, author of the recently published The Newport Bridge. Ricci's talk is co-sponsored by the Jamestown Philomenian Library.

Best Practices For Aging Seniors

Due to inclement weather, this is a rescheduling of the 3/13 lecture of the Jamestown Speaker Series. Mary Beth Daigneault is Administrator of St. Clare Newport. She will speak about practical issues and best practices for seniors "aging in place" and those seeking alternative living transitions. The talk is open to the public.
