A talk by Christopher Parker PhD, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Pre-Law Advisor, University of Rhode Island. Dr. Parker will be speaking about originalism vs living Constitutionalism in general and how it pertains to book challenges & book banning.
Originalists argue that the meaning of the constitutional text is fixed and that it should bind constitutional actors.
Constitutionalists contend that constitutional law can and should evolve in response to changing circumstances and values.
